Abbie Eaton – Last race and end of the season!
After finishing third in the previous race i worked out that i just needed a finish to come 3rd in the championship, and due to the throttle cable snapping in qualifying i was at the back anyway so as far as i was concerned the only way was forward.
I made up 4 places off the start and was cautious into the first corner due to having a lot of unexperienced drivers in front, i didn’t want to be involved in any accidents.
However this was unavoidable as it was chaos, cars flying off everywhere and i had nowhere to go and tboned Patrick Mason who got spun infront of me. The front of the car was all caved in and i couldn’t complete the race.
Unfortunately Aaron Trigwell rolled his car very badly but thankfully was okay.
So with me out of the race the person in 4th place in the championship needed a 1st or 2nd finish; and he managed to do just that. He came 2nd, which for me watching on the side of the track was very upsetting!!
But, things like that do happen from time to time and i just have to look onto next year and future challenges ahead.
I have enjoyed racing in SAXMAX this year, and many of the SAXMAX competitors and their family have said how much i deserved to get the 3rd place so i’m very thankful for the support.
If you would like to see a video of the crash klick here it’s onboard Declan Armstrong’s car.
Yours Abbie
